FireRepeater Adapter

FireRepeater Adapters are intended to function as repeaters but also change the connector type per channel (e.g. from 1394b to D38999)

In that role Adapters work perfect in various steps of an integration project especially when dealing with equipment with different interconnectivity (connector) types.

In DapTechnology's definition "Adapters" are repeaters that change the connector types utlizing the same transport media (e.g. copper, copper). This definition would extend to a configuration in which different media types are used for each channel in a multi-channel Adapter. 
Be aware that DapTechnology refers to "Repeaters" (for same connector types) and "Converters" (for different media types).
