F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Checks Out with DapTechnology FireSpy 3810 & 3850 Advanced Series IEEE 1394b Analyzers

(Nijmegen, the Netherlands, April 10, 2006) DapTechnology, a world-leading supplier of advanced IEEE 1394 protocol analyzers & solutions to the aerospace, defense, industrial, automotive and consumer electronics markets announced today the use of the DapTechnology FireSpy IEEE Advanced Series 1394b Protocol Analyzers by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company for the F-35 JSF Program.  Used as standard test equipment in labs throughout the JSF Program’s SDD Phase, the Basic and Advanced Series FireSpy analyzer products come in standalone external units, as well as internal host adapter circuit card assemblies. The internal units are designed to fit standard PC-based PCI slots, thus providing more convenience & increased performance for demanding applications.

The FireSpy Advanced series are ideally suited for the R&D lab, as well as acceptance & production testing environments, with little or no modifications.  The  FireSpy3810 and 3850 analyzer’s triple bus architecture not only blends well with the requirements of the JSF Program, but may be easily adapted for use in most aerospace & defense platforms implementing IEEE 1394b technology with a need for multi-bus applications.

The FireSpy Advanced Series analyzers employ a more compelling architectural design with a 400MHz on-board RISC processor delivering superior performance compared to the former Basic Series FireSpy models. One to three COTS Texas Instruments TSB81BA3 Physical Layer chips connect to our highly-optimized FPGA platform which, not only acts as a 1394b FireLink LLC (Link Layer Controller), but also incorporates the data recording functionality, Trigger and Filter engines, and Data Monitor. Recorded data is directly captured into the on-board 1 GB memory. In parallel, the Enhanced Scriptor Engine may be deployed to handle the otherwise computing-intensive, number-crunching analysis tasks.  Both the FireSpy 3810 & 3850 come equipped with three bilingual & 6 impedance matching transformer (IMT) beta ports.

“Working in close collaboration with JSF Program team members and providing them with high value need-specific products within tight schedules makes the difference” says Jan de Vries, CEO of DapTechnology. Mr. de Vries adds, “We are continuously innovating on the IEEE 1394 technology with the introduction of new products & services in an attempt to simplify the the users’ IEEE 1394 development experience”.

The FireSpy 3810 and 3850 are now available and may be purchased directly from DapTechnology or one of our authorized resellers.  Additional information on FireSpy products and Daptechnology may be obtained by visiting www.daptechnology.com or by sending an e-mail to info(at)daptechnology.com.
